What ScanLocker does, tab by tab
ScanLocker keeps your documents and secrets on your iPhone, sealed as they are written.
The two tabs
Scan holds pictures: pages photographed in ScanLocker, pictures from Camera Roll and the pages of an imported PDF. Locker holds typed text: a Note, a Key / Value pair or a crypto seed phrase. Each item is encrypted as it is saved.
Folders
Home is first on both tabs and Vault second. Neither can be renamed, deleted or moved, and you add the other folders.
Vault
Vault’s key is made on this iPhone and never copied to iCloud, so Vault has no backup and no recovery.
An item is created in Vault or arrives from the Vault of a paired iPhone, and it leaves by a delete inside the folder or a transfer to a paired iPhone’s Vault. Nothing moves into or out of Vault, and a Vault item cannot be shared, printed or saved to Camera Roll. With Vault open, Import is refused and the Locker forms offer no Paste.
Tapping Add Item in Vault offers Crypto Seed Phrase as 12 Words, 24 Words, Numeric or Secret Key, and the two word shapes have an optional passphrase row. Every word shows as it is typed.
Merge and Split work inside Vault, and a Vault item keeps the title it was created with. A Vault delete is immediate and bypasses the Trash Bin, and checking a whole tab from another folder leaves Vault unchecked.
The padlock on each item
Green marks an item made in ScanLocker, and yellow one imported, pasted or received from a paired iPhone. Red, with the shackle open, marks one caught in a screenshot or screen recording, or one whose encrypted data was refused. Tapping a padlock shows the event that set it and when.
The free version and the full version
ScanLocker is free to use, with every feature. Each tab holds up to eight items, counting Vault and the Trash Bin, and the Scan tab allows eight merges. At a limit ScanLocker adds no new item and keeps what is there, and a restore from iCloud or a transfer from a paired iPhone still arrives in full.
One payment of $24.99 through the App Store removes both limits, and nothing renews. The purchase restores on every device signed in to your Apple Account and covers your Family Sharing group. Apple decides refund requests, at reportaproblem.apple.com.
